40 Days in the Scriptures

Whenever God wanted to prepare someone for his blessings and purpose, he often chose the number 40: Think of the 40 day flood, or Moses on Mt Sinai for 40 days, or Israel in the wilderness for 40 years. Jesus being tempted in the desert for 40 days, and appearing to his disciples after his resurrection for 40 days. So, we picked the 40 days during Lent as a challenge to get ourselves into God’s Word. And 40 days is short enough of a time to make it easy and long enough of a time to help create a habit.

This reading plan will take us through some of the most important events and themes in the Bible. When you’ve finished, you’ll have a better understanding of the Bible’s main message, (the promise, plan, and fulfillment of our salvation), a deeper appreciation for God’s Word, and a stronger faith in God’s promises and plans for your life.

The goal is to find encouragement and accountability, as well as have the opportunity to talk more about the readings.  On our website we have created a private page dedicated to this type of study, where we can read, comment, and ask questions in a private way among our own church family.  No judgement!

As a group we’ll be using this forum to share, comment, react and ask questions about each day’s readings. Online or offline, what an awesome opportunity to learn and grow together as a church family!
